Delhi to Mata Vaishno Devi, Planned End to End
Delhi is the starting point for more Vaishno Devi pilgrims than any other city, and the good news is that you have three easy ways to reach Katra. Most families who want privacy and flexibility choose our road package: a private AC car picks you up from home, and the same driver stays with you until you are dropped back in Delhi.
The drive to Katra is roughly 650 km and usually takes around 11 to 13 hours with meal stops, so we start early on day one. Day two is kept free for darshan, whether you walk the 12–13 km path from Banganga, take a pony or palki, or fly to Sanjichhat by helicopter. Day three is for rest, local shopping and the drive home.
If a long drive is not for you, compare our Delhi by train plan, which uses an overnight train to Katra station, or the Delhi by air plan with a short flight to Jammu.

Suggested Plan: Delhi to Delhi by Road
This is our standard road plan. Timings are flexible and the driver stays with you all three days.
- Day 1 · Delhi to KatraEarly-morning pick-up from your home or hotel in Delhi NCR. Drive north via the Punjab highways with breakfast and lunch stops. You usually reach Katra by evening, check in, collect your Yatra RFID card and rest early.
- Day 2 · Darshan dayStart before dawn from Banganga. Walk, ride a pony or take a palki past Charan Paduka and Ardhkuwari to the Bhawan for darshan, then visit Bhairon Nath temple by ropeway if time allows. With the helicopter add-on, you fly to Sanjichhat and walk about 3 km instead. Return to the Katra hotel for dinner.
- Day 3 · Katra to DelhiSleep in after the long darshan day, have breakfast and pick up prasad and dry fruits in the Katra market. Drive back to Delhi with stops on the way, reaching late evening or night.

How much is the Vaishno Devi package from Delhi?
Our road package starts from about ₹8,500 per person for 2 nights and 3 days when four people share a car. With the helicopter it starts from about ₹12,500, and the flight plus helicopter package is ₹25,000 per person.
How long is the drive from Delhi to Katra?
It is roughly 650 km and usually takes around 11 to 13 hours, depending on traffic and stops. We start early so you reach Katra by evening.
Can we do Vaishno Devi from Delhi in a weekend?
Yes. Leave Friday night or Saturday at dawn and return Monday. If time is very short, the Delhi by air plan saves most of the travel time.
Is the helicopter included?
Only in the helicopter options. In the standard package you walk or hire a pony or palki. Helicopter seats open on the 1st of every month and sell out fast.
Which car will we get?
A Dzire for up to 4 people, an Innova for up to 6 or 7, and a Tempo Traveller for larger groups. Group discounts are available.
Do elders need to walk all the way?
No. Ponies and palkis are available from Banganga, and a battery car runs from Ardhkuwari to the Bhawan side. The helicopter is the easiest option.
