Overview

From the Trikuta Hills to the Kangra Valley

This package is for families who enjoy the yatra on foot and want a few calm days afterwards. You climb from Banganga to the Bhawan at your own pace, with ponies and palkis available for anyone who needs them, and return to Katra for a second night of rest.

Then the road takes you into Himachal Pradesh. Dharamshala sits below the snowy Dhauladhar range, with McLeod Ganj above it. Expect prayer wheels, monasteries, the Bhagsu waterfall, sunset at Naddi and little cafés serving Tibetan food.

The trip ends at Pathankot or Chakki Bank railway station, so there is no need to drive back to Jammu.

5-Day Itinerary

Two days for Mata, two for the hills, and a smooth exit via Pathankot.

Day 1 · Arrive in Jammu, drive to KatraMeet our driver at Jammu airport or railway station and drive to Katra. Check in and register for the Yatra RFID card.
Day 2 · Vaishno Devi darshanSet out early from Banganga on foot, by pony or by palki. After darshan at the holy cave, return to Katra for dinner and rest.
Day 3 · Katra to DharamshalaA drive of about 240 km, roughly 6 hours, into the Kangra valley. Evening at leisure in Dharamshala or McLeod Ganj.
Day 4 · McLeod Ganj and NaddiVisit the monastery area, Bhagsu waterfall and Dal Lake. Chamunda Devi or Kangra Devi can be added on request. Sunset at Naddi, then the Tibetan market.
Day 5 · DepartureCheck out and drive to Pathankot or Chakki Bank station for your train, or to Jammu if you are flying.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is included in the Vaishno Devi Dharamshala package?

Four hotel nights with breakfast and dinner, a private vehicle for the whole route, and all fuel, toll and parking costs. Pony, palki and helicopter charges are extra.

Can I add Chamunda Devi and Kangra Devi temples?

Yes. Both are near Dharamshala. Tell us while booking and we will fit them into day four or add a night.

Is the walk to Vaishno Devi difficult?

It is about 12–13 km each way with a steady climb. Most healthy adults manage it in stages, and ponies and palkis are available.

Can I take the helicopter instead?

Yes. The Dharamshala helicopter package includes Katra ⇄ Sanjichhat tickets, subject to availability.

Which station is best for the return?

Pathankot or Chakki Bank, which are closer to Dharamshala than Jammu. We drop you there on day five.
