Overview
Why Add the Helicopter to a Himachal Trip?
The Vaishno Devi climb is about 12–13 km each way. On a short trip that is fine, but before a week of hill drives many families prefer not to start tired. The helicopter cuts the climb to a flight of roughly 6 minutes from Katra to Sanjichhat, followed by about 3 km to the Bhawan. You are usually back in Katra the same day with energy to spare.
From Katra the tour heads into Himachal Pradesh: two nights in Dalhousie with a day at Khajjiar, a night in Dharamshala and McLeod Ganj, and two nights in Manali. The car and driver stay with you throughout.
Helicopter seats are released on the 1st of every month and are limited. We try for your seats first and build the rest of the tour around the flight date. If flights are full, we arrange a pony or palki instead.

Carry original photo ID and your Yatra RFID card, keep luggage to a small day bag, and reach the Katra helipad well before your slot. Weather in the Trikuta hills can delay flights. Read more on helicopter timings.

Helicopter darshan on day two, then six days in the Himachal hills.
- Day 1 · Jammu to KatraPick-up from Jammu airport or railway station and drive to Katra. Check in and complete RFID registration.
- Day 2 · Helicopter darshanFly from the Katra helipad to Sanjichhat, walk about 3 km to the Bhawan for darshan, then fly back or walk down depending on your ticket. Night in Katra.
- Day 3 · Katra to DalhousieDrive around 220 km into the Chamba hills. Evening walk at Gandhi Chowk. Night in Dalhousie.
- Day 4 · KhajjiarExcursion to Khajjiar's meadow and lake, ringed by deodar trees. Return to Dalhousie.
- Day 5 · Dalhousie to DharamshalaDrive about 120 km. Visit Bhagsu waterfall, the monastery area of McLeod Ganj and Naddi viewpoint. Night in Dharamshala.
