Telangana to Mata Vaishno Devi, Step by Step
Most Telangana pilgrims begin their journey in Hyderabad, the state's main airport and rail hub. Families from Warangal, Karimnagar, Khammam or Nizamabad usually travel to Hyderabad first, and we time the rest of the trip around that.
Flights from Hyderabad to Jammu may be direct on some days but more often connect through Delhi, so total travel time varies. Long-distance trains towards Jammu Tawi and Katra are also available, typically taking a day and a half or more; they suit families who are not in a hurry.
After you reach Jammu, our AC car drives you about 50 km to your hotel in Katra. On darshan day, the helicopter lifts off from the Katra helipad and lands at Sanjichhat about six minutes later. The Bhawan is around 3 km on, walkable in about 45 minutes, with ponies available.
Telangana families often travel in the Dasara and Sankranti holidays or in the summer break. The hill weather is cooler than home in every season, and noticeably cold in winter, so pack accordingly.
