Coimbatore to Vaishno Devi: Our Suggested Approach
Coimbatore is close to the Nilgiris, so local families are used to cool hill weather, but Katra in winter is a different kind of cold, and the Bhawan sits higher still. A proper jacket, warm socks and a cap make the darshan day far more comfortable.
The practical way north is by air. Flights from Coimbatore to Jammu usually need a change, most often in Delhi, and we choose connections with enough time between flights. Our driver meets you at Jammu Airport and takes you to your Katra hotel.
There are also train options, but direct trains are limited and the journey is very long, so many guests take a train to Delhi or Chennai first. We plan the full route for you if you prefer the train.

Three days with the helicopter. Leave early on day one because of the connection.
- Day 1 · Coimbatore to KatraEarly flight to Jammu with a change on the way, usually in Delhi. Our driver meets you at Jammu Airport for the drive to Katra. Check in, register for the Yatra RFID card and rest. Dinner and overnight.
- Day 2 · DarshanShort helicopter flight from Katra to Sanjichhat and a walk of about 3 km to the Bhawan. After darshan, take the ropeway to Bhairon Nath temple, then fly back to Katra. If you skip the helicopter, trek from Banganga by foot, pony or palki.
- Day 3 · Back to CoimbatoreBreakfast, shopping for prasad and dry fruits, and the drive to Jammu Airport for your flights home.
