Vizag to the Holy Cave, Planned with Care
Visakhapatnam is one of the farthest cities from which pilgrims come to Katra, and that distance is exactly why a helicopter package makes sense. After a long journey north, nobody wants to face a 12–13 km climb. The helicopter turns darshan into a short flight and an easy walk.
Flights from Visakhapatnam to Jammu usually connect through Delhi or Hyderabad, so it helps to leave early in the day. Trains are an option for families with time to spare, generally taking around two days towards Jammu Tawi or Katra, sometimes with a change.
From Jammu Airport, our AC car covers the roughly 50 km to Katra. The helicopter flies from the Katra helipad to Sanjichhat in about six minutes, and the Bhawan is about 3 km further on foot or by pony. You return by helicopter the same day.
Coastal Andhra weather is warm and humid, so the cool, dry hill air of Katra can come as a surprise. Pack warm layers whatever the month, and real winter wear from December to February.

- Day 2 · Helicopter darshanAfter breakfast, report at Counter No. 3 at the Katra helipad. Fly to Sanjichhat, cover the last 3 km to the Bhawan and fly back after darshan.
